Marcello Longeri was born in Piombino (Tuscany) in 1947. He took his Degree in Chemistry at the University of Pisa in 1972. In 1972-73 he was as post doctoral fellow at Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa working with Prof. C.A. Veracini on the analysis of H-NMR spectra of molecules dissolved in nematic mesophases. In 1973 he took a permanent position at University of Calabria, Department of Chemistry as Research Assistent. In 1978-1979 he was as CNR-NATO post doctoral fellow at the University of Southampton, Department of Chemistry working with Prof. J.W. Emsley on conformational analysis of molecules by Liquid Crystal NMR In 1982 he became Associated Professor of Physical Chemistry at University of Calabria, Faculty of Science. In 1995 he became a full Professor at the same Institution.
